Things we do to minimise our impact on the environment

Electric Home Library Service vans.

Ending the use of plastic jackets on our books.

Ground source heating systems where possible.

Many of our staff use public transport, walk or cycle between their workplace and home.

How we raise awareness of climate change

Our Something in the Air Programme involved the monitoring of air quality in Sowerby Bridge. We still have air monitors that you can borrow.

Some of our libraries offer food waste bags.

The Council Waste Management Team held an awareness session at Elland Library. Green bags and recycling sacks were given out, as well as advice on recycling.

We have run junk modelling sessions for children.

Our libraries have climate change collections.
